Dr. Jonas Šliūpas’ archives consist of the books he has written, edited, and translated, copies of his articles, collections of photographs, documents and letters, sets of documents and letters of the members of his family, books from the personal library of Dr. J. Šliūpas, originals and copies of books and articles about Dr. J. Šliūpas.

	The valuable part of the first batch of the archives consists of periodicals (between 1887 and 2007) and about 2,300 books in Lithuanian, English and German, also personal archives of Vytautas Beliajus, Alfonsas Braziulis, Aleksandras Dapšys, Jonas Dainauskas, Aleksandras Merkelis, K. Račkauskas-Vairas, Jonas Valiukas and others.
The archives were presented to Šiauliai University Library by Vanda and Vytautas Šliūpai. In 2005, a Collaboration Agreement was signed with the University, according to which the University is obliged to keep and administer the archives as well as ensure access to the archives not only by the university community but also for everybody interested in the materials of the archives.

The Archives of Dr. J. Šliūpas were opened on 12th June 2009.
