Computers in the Library can be used by the members of Šiauliai University community. The computers of the Library are meant to search for information for research and studies as well as writing research and course papers.
Specialised computer workplaces are intended for the following:
• The lobby of the first floor − search in the electronic catalogue of the Library and the Internet.
• Information Publications Reading Room (2-nd floor, Room 203) − search for research information in data bases, electronic catalogues of libraries, etc.;
• Media Room (3-rd floor, Room 308) − for work with audio and video recordings; Sibelius program; for watching CDs;
• Arts Reading Room (3-rd floor, Room 309) − for working with graphic files.
Wireless internet EduROAM is installed in the Library. For information about logging on please contact ŠU Information System Services (19 Višinskio st., 2-st floor, Room 201).
The rules of using computers are defined by the Rules of Using Šiauliai University Library Computers.

Individual Work Rooms (3-rd floor, Rooms 313 I–V) are meant exclusively for the members of the ŠU community:
  • research and academic staff;
  • doctoral students;
Each individual work room contains a computerised work place (logging on for the students is done by using their Student Certificate number, for the staff members – by their payroll number; a password is the four last digits of the Personal Identity code).
Publications borrowed from the Reading Rooms of the Library to be used for work in the Individual Work Room have to be returned on the same day (a delay incurs a fine (Rector‘s decree No. V-236 of the 16th August 1999).
  • Individual Work Rooms can be booked in advance in the Main Library, 1-st floor, Information Desk, tel. +370 (41) 595706 or by e-mail biblioteka@cr.su.lt;
  • maximal reservation time is 6 months.
Group Work Rooms (414–417, 419–421) can be used by all members of the university community.
  • Group Work Rooms can hold maximum 10 people;
  • in case a laptop, a projector or additional seats are needed, the Library has to be informed in advance by phone +370 (41) 595706 or e-mail biblioteka@cr.su.lt


Normative Documents and Patents is a new subdivision of the Library, founded on 1st January 2009 after the reorganisation of Šiauliai Department of the Lithuanian Technical Library and merging it with Šiauliai University Library.
The collection consists of the following:
• Normative documents (over 2,500 items) – standards (LST, LST EN, LST EN ISO, LST ISO, GOST), technical regulations for construction/building (STR), environment protection normative documentation (LAND), rules, recommendations, norms of hygiene, etc.;
• Patent description (over 3,0134 items) and other publications on the issues of industrial ownership (inventions, trade marks, design).
In this reading room, readers will find collections of technical blueprints and drawings, books on maintenance and repair of sound, video equipment and cars (according to the model).
Reader Services:
• Delivery of books to be read in the Reading Room with an opportunity to photocopy parts of them.
• Search for normative and patent documentation at readers’ request.
• Consultancy re search of normative documentation and patents, trade marks and design in the Library collections, internet data bases and electronic files.
• Counselling on the issues of the protection of industrial ownership.
